As a Spanish Medical Interpreter, you will provide essential language interpretation services to patients and staff at our Health Center, ensuring clear communication in at least two languages. You will play a key role in enhancing the quality of care for patients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) by delivering accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation services. Key Responsibilities include adhering to the Code of Ethics for interpreters, ensuring patient confidentiality, direct verbatim interpretation, and professional conduct; managing on-call staff messaging functions in Epic after training; responding to incoming calls from the Interpreter Services Line and handling last-minute requests from various departments; providing interpretation services for a diverse patient population, including pediatric and geriatric patients, over the phone as needed; and identifying and addressing issues to ensure effective delivery of interpreter services in patient care areas. Qualifications required are completion of a medical interpreter certification program, 1-2 years of Spanish interpreting experience in a medical setting within the United States, proficiency in verbal and written communication in at least two languages, ability to deliver culturally appropriate interpretation across various modes, strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of patient rights and confidentiality, preferred computer skills, and excellent prioritization skills.
