The University of Miami/UHealth Central Business Office has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Insurance Verification Representative to work remotely. Core responsibilities include completing accounts timely to support patient satisfaction and referral/authorization activities prior to the patient’s date of service; verifying eligibility and benefits via RTE in UChart, online insurance websites, telephone or other automated services; adding/editing insurance information in UChart ensuring accuracy; completing checklists and documenting co-pay; creating referrals and documenting benefits information such as deductible, co-insurance, and out-of-pocket benefits; meeting productivity standards and maintaining work queue current; assisting and educating patients and healthcare practices within and outside UHealth; contacting Primary Care Physician offices and Health Plans to obtain authorizations or referrals; entering and attaching authorization information in UChart; approving referrals and financially clearing visits; communicating with patients and departments regarding authorization denials or redirections; participating in process improvement initiatives; providing customer service and assisting with insurance-related questions; ensuring patients are aware of financial clearance issues and educated on referral/authorization processes; collaborating with departments and patient access teams for timely communication; implementing service recoveries and escalations as guided by supervisors; and performing other duties as assigned. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, minimum 1 year relevant experience (3 years for senior role), computer literacy (EPIC experience a plus), strong communication skills, ability to work in a team, and ability to handle pressure gracefully. Knowledge of insurance authorization/referral guidelines, bilingual skills, and ability to interact with diverse patients are advantageous.
