Copy Editor

This role will primarily be responsible for the compiling, editing, uploading, and editorializing of the brand new Employee Landing Page (ELP) for one of our clients! This role will also ensure that content is laid out in a manner that considers the employee navigation experience, through building a useful and meaningful taxonomy.

Responsibilities :

  • Create and manage a standard workflow for collecting, compiling, editing and uploading content to our new ELP.
  • Establish the rubric for how changes to the content are updated to the ELP.
  • Ensures clarity, coherence, and consistency across various subjects and author submissions
  • Assist in the design and layout of a taxonomy that improves the UI and UX of the ELP.
  • Checks for spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors
  • Revises word usage, repetition, and dialogue tags
  • Refines text formatting (e.g., bold, italics, paragraph breaks)
  • Maintains inclusive and appropriate vocabulary
  • Fixes descriptive inconsistencies
  • Corrects unintentional point of view (POV) or tense shifts

Skills required :

  • Strong Language Skills: Proficiency in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and syntax is essential. A copy editor must have a keen eye for detail to catch errors and inconsistencies.
  • Attention to Detail: The ability to notice errors and inconsistencies in text is crucial. This includes checking for factual accuracy and ensuring consistency in style and tone.
  • Understanding of Style Guides: Familiarity with various style guides and the ability to apply them appropriately to different types of content.
  • Critical Thinking: The ability to evaluate the content critically, ensuring that it is logical, coherent, and well-structured.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to provide clear feedback and collaborate effectively with writers and other team members.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to work with different types of content and adapt to various writing styles and tones.
  • Creativity and Problem-Solving: The ability to suggest improvements and solutions to enhance the overall quality of the content, and find fun ways to engage the target audiences
  • Technical Acumen: Proficiency in using content management systems and tools used for editing and proofreading. Familiarity with digital platforms and the ability to adapt to new technologies quickly. Experience with Google Sites is a plus!

Compensation: $65 - $85 per hour
