Job Description

Coffee Shop and Café Manager Position Summary: We are looking for a coffee shop and café manager for our Food & Beverage Outlets. The main responsibilities of this position will be to organize daily operations of the coffee shop and restaurant and motivate our staff to provide excellent customer service. To be a successful manager, you should demonstrate exemplary management and leadership skills and ensure that the café staff carries out all duties efficiently. To be successful in this role you should have work experience with various roles in coffee shops and restaurants. Also, you should be available to work during open hours, including weekends and holidays. Ultimately, you will help increase profitability, boost customer engagement, and show staff how to provide exemplary customer service to keep our coffee shop and café a favorite for locals and students. Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day operations of the coffee shop and café. Responsible for ongoing training of employees, to include drink preparations, proper use of coffee equipment, and food safety. Scheduling staff for the coffee bar and café. Coordinate with vendors and order supplies, as needed (like takeaway cups, coffee, milk and other supplies) Assist team members with stocking and maintaining the coffee shop, café and breakfast service par stock levels. Maintain updated records of daily, weekly, and monthly revenues and expenses. Maintain responsibility for accurate and safe cash management procedures to include closing the shift on POS terminal, printing closing report and dropping the cash. Hold employees accountable to perform basic cleaning tasks on a daily basis and routine cleaning tasks as needed. Coordinate with the other team members, kitchen staff, and supervisors to ensure smooth operation and guest satisfaction. Create new menu items based on seasonality and customers' preferences (for example vegan coffee drinks) Identifying strategies to retain and attract customers. Advise staff on the best ways to resolve issues with clients and deliver excellent customer service. Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations. Ensure all cafe and breakfast areas are clean and tidy. Nurture friendly relationships with customers to increase loyalty and boost our reputation. Filling in for absent staff as needed. Understands and can communicate products and services available at the hotel. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein .Be sure to perform, execute, as well as adjust to other duties as assigned. Qualifications and education requirements: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. On-the-job training or essential experience in less responsible position(s) may substitute for education. Must possess ability to professionally represent the hotel and communicate positively with the guests. Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations. Excellent organizational and time management skills Exceptional customer service skills Work experience as a Cafe Manager or Barista and restaurant management Must have some familiarity with basic food preparation skills. Hands-on experience with professional coffee machines Good math skills Availability to work within operating hours (including weekends and holidays) Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team Customer service attitude High school diploma Additional certification, such as ServSafe, is a plus. Grooming: All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Hotel Madison standards. Able to articulate clear greetings, requests for assistance, and say farewell to guests. Ability to read, write, and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English. TEAMWORK! A manager is part of a team! Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Requires ability to stand/walk for significant periods. Requires ability to move fingers and hands easily and quickly. Requires ability to communicate both orally and in writing to guests and staff members. Requires ability to lift 20 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 10-35 pounds.
