THE ROLE

Reporting to the President & Chief Executive Officer of UTMC, the Senior Vice President, Chief People Officer (CPO) is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of human resources (HR) functions within the academic health system. The CPO will play a critical role in shaping and executing the organizations human capital strategy, ensuring the alignment of workforce initiatives with the systems overall mission, vision, and strategic goals. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CPO will work closely with clinical, academic, and administrative leaders to foster a culture of excellence, engagement, innovation, and well-being. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading HR strategies in complex healthcare or academic environments, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within an academic health system setting.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/TRAITS

  • 10 to 15 years of experience at the ELT or academic department leadership level or above in a comparable size health care facility.
  • A demonstrable effectiveness in leading human resources initiatives with a broad knowledge of medical services.
  • A successful track record of developing effective working relationships with medical staff and healthcare administration.
  • Exhibits a mentality of collaboration someone who strongly endorses UHSs mission, vision, and values.
  • Demonstrates high ethical standard(s) in business practices.
  • Actively and positively supports organizational goals and changes as they occur.
  • Communicates organizational goals in a positive, supportive manner.
  • Acts as a role model by leading organizational initiatives and encourages others to actively participate.
